A scenic viewpoint lays Shirakawa-go before the visitor, allowing them to take in the village nestled among mountains and trees. Up here, one can just make out the paddy fields, the steep-sloping thatch roofs of the gasshou-zukuri and the minuscule figures of villagers as they go about their day.
